YEARS WITH ATYP

COMEDY MASTERCLASS 2021

I participated in the ATYP Comedy Masterclass, a week-long intensive designed for young performers to develop comedic timing, improvisation, and stage presence. Under the guidance of industry professionals, I explored techniques in physical comedy, characterisation, and sketch performance, as well as collaborative play-building and ensemble work. The program strengthened my confidence in live performance and deepened my understanding of comedic storytelling and timing in theatre.

The Ballad of Pak Craig

The Ballad of Pak Craig marked my semi-professional debut and my first performance in a professional theatre space. The production featured new Australian writing, bringing together young performers from across NSW to collaborate on contemporary, original works. Through this experience, I developed skills in characterisation, ensemble performance, and stagecraft while gaining valuable insight into professional rehearsal and production processes. As my first time performing to a live audience, the experience significantly built my confidence and reinforced my passion for live performance.

MC

After performing the year prior, I returned to the ATYP Intersection Festival the following year as the MC for the event. In this role, I introduced performances, engaged the audience, and represented the Captivate program throughout the event. This experience developed my public speaking, stage presence, and improvisation skills, while deepening my confidence in leading live events and connecting with audiences in a professional theatre setting.

I Really Like You

I once again returned to the ATYP Intersection Festival to perform in I Really Like You (Or; Pen, Paper, Subway Cookies, Legal Studies and Everything That Conspired for Us to Find Each Other) — a two-actor, high school romance exploring connection, vulnerability, and timing. This production offered a more intimate and emotionally driven performance experience, allowing me to deepen my skills in character development, emotional expression, and onstage chemistry. Performing in such a focused two-person piece strengthened my confidence as an actor and my ability to sustain narrative tension and authenticity in live performance.

Milk Bottle Challenge

In 2025, I performed in Milk Bottle Challenge, marking my final onstage performance with ATYP and Captivate. This explored the experiences of three friends navigating the challenges of growing up and dealing with personal change. The production allowed me to further develop my skills in ensemble work, emotional storytelling, and stage presence, while reflecting on the culmination of my multi-year journey with the Captivate program. This performance was a meaningful capstone, showcasing my growth as a performer and my ability to connect authentically with audiences.
